Simon Jonna leads a team of industry recognized net-leased professionals specializing in the full spectrum of investment sales transactions; portfolio bulk dispositions, sale-leasebacks, shopping centers, urban core, multi-family, mixed-use, forward commitment pre-sales under construction, etc. His real estate lineage entails an active role with a national development company partaking in site selection for national and greater regional tenants, portfolio disposition, land assemblages, development spec sites, development feasibility studies, re-locations and back fills, special use conversions, landlord representation, and tenant representation. Prior to his entry into the investment real estate segment, Simon's experience includes his Stockbroker profession at UBS in addition to his up-tempo Commodity Brokering within the futures markets with personal mentorship from an industry mogul, preceded by financial advisory roles in related fields.
Simon harnessed his acquired skill set and endeavored into the investment sales arena with readily equipped and fine-tuned market knowledge. His transition into the specialized niche of trading retail income properties proved fruitful & rewarding upon capturing instantaneous accolades on national scales his first year as top rookie nationwide, in an already flush playing field of counterpart talent he was facing coast to coast. Having built a brand, the Jonna Group transitioned to Colliers International to form a premiere Co-Brand, upon being #1 ranked in the entire MIDWEST USA region and the #2 ranked in all of the EAST USA region (east of the Mississppi). Simon demonstrates a keen sense of retail macro and micro real estate trends, financing thresholds, leading indications of tenant performance, investor preferred sales ratios and analytics, trade zone depths, demographic viability, CAP rate movements, tenant lease structures, tenant prototype designs, and the ever-changing tenant business plans. He is known to display an instinctual ability to make sense of real estate and how to ascertain the highest and best use for each property.
Simon's closings have been showcased on company ticker featured headlines as several of deals surpassed expectations relative to CAP rates and pricing in both downtrodden & normalized markets. Certain real estate deals are sometimes documented case studies on repeat occasions due to their unorthodox complexities with large net leased portfolios or a multitude of moving parts between vying banks, third party vendors, cross debt, escrow hold backs, and much more. At any given time, Simon has dealings within the high barriers of entry to the New York Boroughs, Cape Cod, Key West, Silicon Valley, Downtown Chicago, Long Island and other select regions when dealing with a host of America's upper echelon real estate personalities.
Simon's accolades represent multiple national achievement award honors; He is recognized by the Wallstreet Journal, the Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame and Dbusiness "30 in the Thirties" among others. Born and raised in San Diego, Simon made the decision to move to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Simon's father, Harry Jonna, is his mentor who instilled what it means to foster credible relationships and build upon them successfully, both in business and personal life. Simon is an avid reader and writer, with an education from the University of Michigan and major in Communications/Finance. When not working, Simon enjoys an extensive collection of paperback which includes diverse topics such as memoirs, history, business, real estate, finance, logic, political science, the arts, and poetry. Along with his personal support of charitable and community organizations, he also enjoys boating, boxing and playing basketball, spending time with his wife Ashley and newborn son Simon Peter, along with immediate family. He is also an active industry speaker, investor, partner and published author with a new book entitled "Diary of a Dealmaker". Simon is often focusing on the continued growth and evolution of his business.
